She did it again, friends. Lillie has a Word for us for 2022.
Tucked away in a random box in the attic, Pop found a treasure from Lillie in a “Write the Vision” journal that neither of us had seen before. A rare find filled with her dreams and vision, I KNOW her spirit led him to her . . . notes she had written back in 2009 that laid out how she foresaw her legacy living itself out.
For those who remember my mother, the Reverend Dr. Lillie Madison Jones, know that she was never one for a whole lot of words (that’s where she said I came in as her scribe!); rather, when she spoke, her words were always power-packed, economical, purposeful, intentional.
About midway through the journal, Pop showed me a page that he said was divinely inspired. He said, “This is a message for you now, daughter. Your mother led me to this book to share with you.”
It blew my mind in its simplicity!
The way it reads is like she was writing out a list of what to ask God for in preparation for prayer, snippets of prayers, and then a few affirmations. The date on this particular entry was November 20, 2009, but my friends, what you will read below could be a meditation for us TODAY, the 1st day of a brand new year!
I couldn’t wait to unselfishly share this with you in memory of my mother with hope and a prayer for you and me as we embrace God’s best for us in 2022. I pray it blesses you as it did me. In love and charity ~~
Ask God for what you want.
Do not feel guilty.
Do not hold anything back.
Pour it all out as a little child.
Total faith – unreserved – expecting.
Purify the motives & desires of my heart.
Ask God to give me singleness of eye and purity of purpose.
Trust that as I asked for what I really wanted, God would purify my desires and purge my self-centered desires into God’s dream for the way I am to collaborate with God to bring God’s Kingdom on earth.
Show kindness.
Offer a listening heart.
Be peace.
Live expectantly.
Come, Holy Spirit, reform me.
