Tending the Garden Within: A Reminder for Self-Care in the Heart of Spring

Spring is in full bloom all around us.
The trees are budding, the flowers are stretching toward the sun, and nature is putting on her finest show.
But while the earth bursts with new life, many of us are carrying heavy things inside—seasonal allergies, headaches, congestion, exhaustion—signs that even as the world awakens, our bodies need extra care.

I’ve felt it myself this week—the weight in my chest, the lingering fatigue, the fog that spring sometimes brings. And I know I’m not alone.

In moments like this, I hear my mother’s voice in my spirit, reminding me with the same steady wisdom she offered when she was here:
“You must make yourself a priority.”

Not later.
Not when everything calms down.
Now.

She would always say that self-care isn’t selfish—it’s stewardship. Just as she would faithfully tend to her garden each spring, pulling weeds, watering tender plants, and making sure they had the nourishment to thrive, she believed we are called to tend the gardens within ourselves with the same care and urgency.

Spring isn’t just a season for blooming—it’s a season for tending, for clearing out, for protecting what’s growing inside.

And that includes you.

Today, I encourage you—as I encourage myself—to listen to your body.
If it’s weary, rest.
If it’s congested, heal.
If it’s heavy, breathe.
If it’s asking for stillness, honor that.

The same God who orchestrates the blooming of the lilies and the turning of the seasons is inviting you to bloom—but blooming requires care, not constant output.

As we move deeper into this season of new life, let’s remember to nurture our own soil—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Tend to your garden within. Make yourself a priority. And trust that in doing so, you’re not falling behind—you’re preparing to bloom in ways you can’t yet imagine.

In love and charity,

Giselle (aka) Blooming-lillie
