The Space Between: Trusting the Process

The book is off to print. The work has been done. And now, I find myself in the space between—the time of waiting, trusting, and preparing for what comes next.

But this isn’t just about waiting for How I Got Over to arrive. It’s about something deeper—learning to embrace the process and finding peace in the in-between moments of life. This is where faith is tested and strengthened.

My mother, Lillie, understood this well. She wasn’t just a woman of action; she was a woman of deep spiritual practice, someone who knew the power of stillness and surrender. She had a centering prayer—one that anchored her in God’s presence, even when life was uncertain. I wish I had it in front of me now, but I can still feel the essence of it in her daily example:

  • She trusted God’s timing, even when doors seemed to close.
  • She practiced stillness, knowing that wisdom and clarity come when we quiet our spirits.
  • She leaned on scripture, grounding herself in God’s promises through every challenge and transition.

One of her favorite verses was Psalm 46:10—

Be still, and know that I am God.

She lived by this, teaching me that peace doesn’t come from having all the answers but from trusting the One who does.

Another scripture that speaks to this process is Isaiah 40:31—

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Waiting, trusting, centering—this was my mother’s practice. She knew that God works in the process just as much as in the outcome. Whether she was preparing a sermon, mentoring a student, or walking into a new season of life, she took time to sit with God, to breathe, to listen.

Today, I reflect on her example and remind myself—this space between is sacred, too. The waiting isn’t empty; it’s full of faith-building, soul-centering work.

So today, I invite you to embrace your own space between. Trust that the process is unfolding as it should. Lean into prayer, find stillness, and remember—God is already working.

In love and charity,

Giselle (aka) Blooming-lillie
